A New Anime Series Based on Hideaki Sorachi’s Dandelion Is Coming in April

Two unassuming angels help lost souls find peace in this adaptation of the Gintama creator’s debut work.

    April 7, 2026

Before Hideaki Sorachi created Gintama, he made his debut with Dandelion, a supernatural comedy about two angels tasked with helping the dead move on. Now, an anime series adaptation of Sorachi’s first manga is on the way, premiering in April.

Dandelion follows Tetsuo Tanba and Misaki Kurogane, members of the Japanese Angel Federation’s Send-Off Department. Their job? Tracking down restless earthbound spirits and gently guiding them to the afterlife.

While other angels rush to close their cases, the 21st Division’s Dandelion Clan takes a different approach. Dandelion members Tetsuo Tanba and his leader, Misaki Kurogane, listen to each spirit’s regrets and help them resolve what’s holding them back. They even help a spirit who’s an elderly man running at full speed, desperate to escape.

The angels themselves are full of surprises. Tanba’s permanent scowl and sharp tongue mask a deeply compassionate nature, while Kurogane is a formidable force — despite her girlish appearance. She’s rumored to have laid to rest the legendary soul of Musashi Miyamoto.

Dandelion is directed by Daisuke Mataga, with series composition by Suzuki Yosuke, character design by Asari Ai, and music by Yuki Hayashi. Animation production is by NAZ.
