The Cackling of the Dodos may sound like it will spotlight the high-pitched vocals of the long-extinct, flightless birds, but the film is anything but a nature documentary.

Directed by Jason Bateman (Black Rabbit), Dodos centers on small-town farmer George, who discovers a corpse in a grain bin and is forced into a chaotic, sloppy cover-up by his shady boss, Denny. Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson will star in this movie based on an original screenplay by novelist Rye Curtis (Kingdomtide).

Joining Rockwell and Harrelson in the cast are Fred Hechinger, Michael McKean, Esther McGregor, Jenn Lyon, and Emy Coligado.

Dodos is Bateman’s latest in a slew of collaborations with Netflix. Most recently, he received an Actor Award nomination from SAG/AFTRA for his work in Black Rabbit. In addition, he played a Grade A baddie in the 2024 airport security thriller Carry-On, which spent eight weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10 list. And he memorably portrayed a Grade A goodie-turned-baddie in Ozark, which received 45 Emmy nominations over its four-season run.

Keep coming back to Tudum for more news about The Cackling of the Dodos — it might not be a nature documentary, but it’s sure to be wild.
