Get ready to enter a whole new world of Guillermo del Toro’s creation — the Oscar-winning filmmaker’s Cabinet of Curiosities anthology miniseries is hitting Netflix this October.

“With Cabinet of Curiosities, [the executive producers] and I — along with our curated team of writers and directors of each story — set out to showcase the realities existing outside of our normal world: whether they come from outer space, the underground,  behind the closed door, or simply in our minds,” del Toro told Netflix.

A new trailer for the series gives us a glimpse of its oozing practical makeup effects, stacked cast and new creepy-crawlies to add to del Toro’s menagerie. As in the series, the filmmaker acts as a guide, passing the torch to a new filmmaker for each episode. “Welcome to my cabinet of curiosities,” he intones at the end of the trailer. Don’t mind if we do.

Starting Oct. 25, two of the eight episodes will be released each day; by Halloween, you’ll be able to have a very spooky marathon viewing session. Del Toro also shared a cryptic new teaser showcasing the series’ grotesque creature designs and the titles of each episode. You can check it out below.

Del Toro will serve as a guide to these realities; alongside his role as executive producer, co-showrunner, and writer for two of the episodes, he also provides an introduction to each.

But the Pan’s Labyrinth director isn’t the only filmmaker with his fingerprints on this Cabinet’s door knobs. “In this anthology, we gave ownership of each episode to the directors,” he says. “Each of the episodes has a whole world. They present you with different delights; some are savory, some are sweet. You get a surprise from each of the bites.”
