Watch Glen Powell Talk to His Dad About Becoming a Hollywood (H)it Man

Glen Powell’s parents always knew he had something special, but his dad — also named Glen Powell — clearly remembers the “the first time I thought, ‘Yeah, he can act.’ ” It was on the set of Denzel Washington’s The Great Debaters: Powell Sr. remembers watching his son nail a scene, and hearing Washington say, “ ‘That’s what I’m talking about. That’s how you do it. Cut. We’re done.' At that point I go, ‘Wow.’ ”

But that wouldn’t be the last time Powell Sr. dropped in on his son on a film set, with the most recent visit being during the filming of one of this summer's buzziest movies, Hit Man, which Powell not only stars in but also co-wrote with director Richard Linklater. As for Powell, he loves that his career has been something of a family affair, telling his dad, “It’s been a great journey that we’ve gotten to do together and I think that’s the best part about this. Obviously I’ve loved making movies since I was a kid, but to get to do [it] with you guys has made it very, very special."

Watch Glen and Glen in conversation, above, and see if you can spot Powell Sr. in the background of Hit Man, streaming only on Netflix. (Spotting Powell won't be much of a challenge!)
