Single’s Inferno Season 5: Meet the Cast — and Everything Else You Need to Know

Can love be forged in a fire this hot?

Back for a sizzling fifth season, Single’s Inferno promises to be hotter than ever. A new cohort of flirty young singles are dropped onto a deserted island with limited resources to survive — and just like in previous seasons, the only way to escape the inferno is to couple up and earn a romantic date night in paradise. But this season comes with some unexpected twists — including more international contestants than ever before — that turn up the heat.

The hosts of the Korean reality dating show, Hong Jin-kyung (Screwballs), KYUHYUN (The Devil’s Plan), Lee Da-hee (Beauty Inside), HANHAE (Amazing Saturday), and Season 2 contestant Dex (Zombieverse: New Blood), all return for Season 5. The series is produced by Kim Jae-won, Kim Jung-hyun, and Park Suji, the creative team behind Nineteen to Twenty.

What happens in Single’s Inferno?

After agreeing to strand themselves on an island for nine days in a daring experiment to find love, five bachelors and four bachelorettes finally meet. Amid the awkward introductions, shy smiles and flirtatious glances are already being bandied about. The men seem entranced by Go-eun’s charming aloofness, while the women are drawn to Jae-jin’s offbeat mannerisms. As the contestants tackle their first Inferno Island challenge (harvesting local ingredients and making lunch together), sparks begin to fly. But as fans of Single’s Inferno know, more singles are coming, and these connections could fall apart at the drop of a hat.

Season 5 ups the ante in the very first episode. After a hard-won lunch, the islanders are called for a surprise vote. Each contestant must write down who they’d want to spend a night in paradise with, and the man and woman with the most votes gets to take a partner of their choice on a date. Min-gee is shocked when she’s declared the winner of the women’s round — but rather than choosing either of the men that voted for her, she takes Sung-min, the sweet optician who took charge of lunch, to paradise. As the men’s winner, Jae-jin asks Ye-jin to be his date. After the first two couples escape to Paradise Island for their luxurious date night, four more contestants are immediately introduced into the game. With so many enticing options, Inferno Island seems poised to erupt into an all-out war for love.

“You can expect much more diverse romantic arcs and unforgettable personalities [in Season 5],” producer Kim Jae-won tells Netflix.
