If your relatives live too far away or if you’re anticipating too much drama around the dinner table, you might be one of the many people in America that opt to celebrate Friendsgiving instead of the traditional family Thanksgiving. In fact, studies suggest as many as 20% of people in the US celebrate with their friends instead. And who’s to say doing a holiday potluck with your buds isn’t just as much fun as, er … fighting with your uncle for the remote? So whether you’re heading home for some turkey time with Mom and Dad, gathering with your pals, or even hitting up the local Chinese restaurant for solo time, here are a few series and movies to get you into the Friendsgiving spirit.

Some groups bicker like family. This nine-season sitcom stars co-creator Jerry Seinfeld (Unfrosted) as a fictionalized version of himself. He and his colorful friends George Costanza (Jason Alexander), Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), and Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards) tackle the many challenges of living in New York City — dating woes, career snafus, and seemingly random, short-lived feuds — but there’s nothing shamelessly busting into Jerry’s apartment can’t fix. Wayne Knight (Jurassic Park), co-creator Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiasm), and more also star.

Loving your co-workers makes life that much more enjoyable. Brooklyn Nine-Nine, created by Dan Goor (Killing It) and Michael Schur (A Man on the Inside), follows police officers working at New York’s fictional 99th Precinct, with an ensemble cast headed by Andy Samberg (Hot Rod) as the talented but immature Detective Jake Peralta. When the station gets a new captain, the no-nonsense Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher), Jake and his colleagues aren’t sure what to expect, but the addition turns them into a family over eight seasons. Stephanie Beatriz (In the Heights), Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris), Melissa Fumero (Blockbuster), Joe Lo Truglio (Superbad), Chelsea Peretti (Game Night), Dirk Blocker (Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.), and Joel McKinnon Miller (Station 19) also star.

A new roommate can become a new best friend if you’re lucky. Aspiring novelist and recent Harvard grad Chelsea (Emily Osment) is forced to move in with her sister, Claire (Olivia Macklin), but she gets more than she bargained for when she meets their three other roomies: personal trainer Grant (Gregg Sulkin), spiritual healer Solana (Cinthya Carmona), and social media influencer Jayden (Michael Hsu Rosen). Chelsea, though, learns to live with and love each one of them for their eccentricities over the course of this 10-episode series.
