Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg pair up for a chaotic cross-country ride in their upcoming Netflix comedy, Me Time. The camaraderie continued off screen at the film’s premiere at Los Angeles’s Regency Village Theater on Aug. 23.
Directed by comedy film legend John Hamburg, Me Time follows straight-laced, stay-at-home dad Sonny (Hart) as he joins his wilder childhood friend Huck (Wahlberg) for an epic birthday road trip that leads the pair on a series of dangerous (and hilarious) adventures. And there’s a really sweet message behind their shenanigans.
“It was an amazing opportunity to highlight the world of a father that embraces fatherhood at a high level,” Hart told Netflix at the premiere. “I don’t think we have the conversation enough about men that really try to take on the world of supporting their other half and their career… It was really cool to flip the lens in this particular point of view with this movie. We grounded it in a way we felt people would be able to relate to it and hopefully walk away with a positive message.”

Joining Hart on the carpet were his Me Time co-stars Regina Hall, Ilia Paulino, Andrew Santino, Jimmy O. Yang and his partner in comedic crime, Mark Wahlberg, who shared his personal idea of me time (much more tame than his character’s).
“You know what I realized — and I apologize to my wife — I take too much me time!” Wahlberg told Netflix. “I get up in the morning before everybody else, praying, then I’m going to the gym, then I’m going to the golf course... there’s a lot of me time! I gotta scale back a little bit.”
You don’t have to wait too long to enjoy some “me time” for yourself. The comedy comes to Netflix on Aug. 26.
